The circus is in town, and Toby Tyler dreams of seeing inside its glamorous world. When Mr. Job Lord, the circus' candy man, offers him a job, Toby jumps at the opportunity, running away that very night. He soon discovers that the circus life is not all it presents itself to be, and that Mr. Lord is really a cruel taskmaster.Befriending a monkey and some kind circus performers, Toby learns to navigate the arduous caravan life and comes to understand the importance of loyalty, responsibility, and hard work.
